Sue Wilkinson, Co-Founder
Sandra Wainman and Suzanne Wilkinson co-founded LifeSkills in 1993. Their work in the public schools was instrumental in the formulation of their mission to support children with "hidden" sensory processing dysfunction.
Sandy has over 25 years of sensory integration experience and as an Occupational Therapist. She is Sensory Integration and Praxis Test (SIPT) certified. Her primary interests are treating and the clinical training and supervision of LifeSkills therapists. She enjoys lecturing and is a Certified Hippotherapist.
Sandy is the founder of LifeSkills Academy. In the Fall of 2011, she presented at the Annual International SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder) Foundation Conference in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Sandy proudly served on the Board of the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida. She was awarded the Disney Teacheriffic Award for her program, Kids in Motion Aren't Commotion™, a collaborative work with a speech and language pathologist/Pre-K teacher in the Orange County Public School System.
Sue co-authored the book Action Alphabet, a multi-sensory approach to teaching the alphabet for which she received the Disney Award for Innovative Teaching. With 20 years experience as an occupational therapist, she has lectured on toy selection, sensory diet for behavior problems, ADHD, designing pre-K classrooms,
oral-motor strategies, and the use of play in therapy. She was Editor of the School Specialties/Integrations catalog.
Sandy and Sue's greatest love is the children, their families, teachers and caregivers with whom they've had the honor of working. Their staff of occupational, and speech and language therapists was selected based on their compassion and commitment to families, as well as their exceptional clinical skills.
We help children who otherwise can't be figured out...the ones who are "out-of-sync" and are "falling through the cracks". Since 1993, we have been known for getting results!
