Hippotherapy

Hippotherapy,
the use of horses for treatment, has been very successfully used
for 3 years by LifeSkills therapists, who are NARHA (North American
Riding for the Handicapped Association, Inc.) certified. All sessions
are at Freedom Ride (www.freedomride.com),
the only premier accredited NARHA facility in the Central Florida
area.

The use of horses addresses:
- The multi-sensory need of many individuals with sensory processing/sensory
integration disorder.
- Postural changes, which affect the ability to sit in one place.
- Respiratory changes, which improve the long-deep breathing needed
for increased calmness.
- Increased bilateral awareness, which improves the ability of eyes
and hands to work together for reading, writing, "board" work.
- Improvement in postural alignement for swallow affects of feeding
ability and feeding time of many.
